STEP-BY-STEPSix steps to switch from AT&T

Check that your phone is unlocked
If you bought your phone from AT&T, it is usually locked until the device is paid off and the account has been active for at least 60 days. On iPhone, open Settings → General → About → Carrier Lock. “No SIM restrictions” means you are unlocked. On Android, open Settings → Connections → Mobile network → SIM status. Still locked? Request an unlock through AT&T's device-unlock portal. More detail: Is your phone unlocked? - 02receipt_long
Check what leaving will cost
AT&T uses two different models. On an installment plan (most common) there is no ETF, but you still owe the remaining balance on your device. On a one- or two-year service commitment, the ETF is up to $325 for a smartphone, prorated at about $10 per month of service completed. Brand-new consumer wireless subscribers can typically cancel within 14 days with no ETF. Log in at att.com to confirm which model applies. Get your AT&T Number Transfer PIN
AT&T requires a Number Transfer PIN before it will release your number. Sign in online or in the myAT&T app, open the Number Transfer PIN page in account settings, and generate the PIN. Save it. It is valid for a limited time. Direct link: AT&T number-transfer support. - 04description
Have your account details ready
Halo needs your AT&T account number, account holder name, billing address on file, and Number Transfer PIN. Use the values exactly as they appear on your AT&T account. - 05sim_card
Start your transfer with Halo
During signup, choose Keep my number, paste the details from the previous step, and submit. Most transfers complete within minutes. - 06check_circle
When your number transfers
If you used a physical AT&T SIM, remove it. If you used an AT&T eSIM, disable it in your phone's cellular settings. Place a test call, send a test text, and load a web page on cellular. If anything is off, contact Halo support.

Important
Do not cancel your AT&T line first. Canceling before the port can release your number back into the pool. Halo closes your AT&T line automatically once the transfer completes.
Ready to switch?
It takes about two minutes from start to finish.
Keep your number. Skip the contract. We close your old line for you.
